Direct messages, on your terms
Message any hooper from their profile, and decide who can message you: friends only, anyone, or no one, set in Settings. A first message from someone who is not your friend arrives as a request that sits apart from your chats until you answer it, so a stranger never lands in the middle of your inbox. Under 18s can only ever be messaged by their accepted friends, with no setting that opens it wider.
A chat for every run
Every run has its own room with everyone who is on it: the lineups, the open players, the organiser. Game plans, "running late", the after-photos, all of it stays with the run. When the run finishes the thread winds down, and its messages are deleted 30 days later. Nothing you said at a Tuesday run follows you around forever.
Team rooms and captain announcements
Your team has a standing chat for as long as the team exists, and captains can send an announcement that pins to the top of the room, so "Saturday, Blue Cage, 2pm" does not drown in the jokes. Challenge a team for their court and the two teams' captains get a thread of their own to settle terms, which clears out 30 days after the challenge is settled.
Your home court has a room
Every court has a chat for the hoopers who call it home. Make a court your home court and you are in; change your home court and you are out, it is that literal. It is where "anyone down for runs at 6?" reaches exactly the people who would actually come. Court chats are for adults (18 plus), the room announces when a new hooper makes the court their home, and messages keep a rolling 30 days so the room stays about this week, not last year.
An inbox that stays yours
Pin up to three chats to the top, hide a thread you are done with (it comes back by itself if something new lands), mute the ones that can stay quiet, and filter by Unread or Unanswered when you owe replies. Reply to a specific message, react to one, and see when the other person is typing.
Safety is built into the room
Block a hooper and the two of you disappear from each other everywhere, chats included, in both directions. Report a message and our moderators see it with the context around it, nothing else. The same word filter that checks everything else you post runs on messages too. Messages are not a surveillance feed: what you write is visible to the people in that conversation, and detail on how long everything is kept lives in the privacy policy.
Try it yourself.
