House rules
Effective date: 31 July 2026
GotNext is for hoopers. Keep it that way.
Who we are
GotNext is operated by Denis WebStudio. These rules form an agreement between you and us, governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Who can use GotNext
You must be 13 or older to use GotNext. By using it, you confirm that you are.
What you agree to
By using GotNext you agree to these rules. Your profile, photos, team names, run listings, check-ins and any court you add are visible to other players. You are responsible for what you post.
Courts you add
GotNext lets you put a court on the map yourself. A court is not just your content, it is something every hooper in the city then relies on, so the bar is higher:
- It must be a real, outdoor court that is free and open to the public. Gated, members only and pay to play spots are not listed.
- You must be standing at it when you add it. Your phone's position is checked against the pin, because a court in the wrong place sends people to nothing.
- Your photo must be of the court itself. Do not photograph people, and do not upload anything you do not hold the rights to.
- You keep ownership of your photo. You give us permission to show it in the app and on this site for as long as the court is listed.
- A new court shows as unconfirmed until enough other hoopers have checked in there. If nobody does within 30 days, it comes off the map and we tell you.
- A reviewer can remove any court. If one you added is removed, we tell you, and you can contact us from Settings if you think it was wrong.
Zero tolerance for abuse
We do not allow:
- Harassment, bullying or threats against anyone
- Hate speech or slurs of any kind
- Sexual or violent content
- Impersonating another person
- Spam, scams or ads dressed up as runs
Content like this gets removed and repeat offenders lose their account. No warnings owed.
Your tools
You can block any player (their presence and profile disappear for you, and yours for them) and report any player or content from their profile or run page. Reports go straight to us and we act on them quickly.
Messaging
GotNext has direct messages between two players, and a group thread for everyone on a run. By default, only friends can message you. If you are 18 or older, you can open this in Settings so any player can message you, or turn messaging off completely. If you are under 18, you cannot open this up to anyone beyond your friends, though you can still turn messaging off completely. A message from someone who is not your friend arrives as a request: you see a few of their messages before deciding whether to accept.
The same rules above apply in a message as anywhere else on GotNext: no harassment, no hate speech, no sexual or violent content, no impersonation, no spam. The word filter that checks your other posts also checks message text before it sends. You can report or block from inside a conversation, the same as anywhere else in the app.
Messages are stored on our servers so we can deliver them to the other person and act on reports. They are not end to end encrypted: if a message is reported, a moderator can read that message and the messages around it to review the report. Run thread messages are deleted 30 days after the run ends. Direct messages are kept until you delete your account, at which point your messages and your direct message conversations are deleted.
Illegal content and moderation
GotNext is a service where people post content, so we take illegal content seriously. We remove content that is illegal under UK law when we become aware of it, and we may suspend or remove accounts that post it. Anyone can report a user or a piece of content in the app, and you can block any user so the two of you no longer see each other. We review reports and action them quickly, normally within about 24 hours. If you believe content on GotNext is illegal, or you have a concern about someone's safety, report it in the app or email us at [email protected] and we will look into it.
Playing is at your own risk
GotNext helps you find courts and runs. We do not own, run or supervise any court, and we do not organise or referee the games. Basketball is a physical activity, so you take part at your own risk. Meet in public, use your judgement, and look out for each other.
Nothing in these rules takes away the protections you have by law: we do not exclude our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us exclude. Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for what happens at a court or between players.
The service
We provide GotNext as is, and we may change, pause or stop any feature at any time. We work to keep court and presence info accurate, but it depends on what players check in, so treat it as a guide, not a guarantee.
Changes to these rules
We may update these rules. When we make a meaningful change, we update the effective date above. If you keep using GotNext after a change, that counts as accepting the new rules.
Your data
Your account and everything tied to it can be deleted any time in Settings, or via our Delete your data page. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
